More Tulip Pics

Tulip Time

Today we went to Pella, IA with Grandma Mary Ann and Maryann. We stopped at a little store going into Pella that has homemade American Girl accessories and I bought the gitls new tote bags for their bitty babies. We then made our way to the square where we went to "see the Tulips".....o.k. o.k. so I lie we really were going to the bakery where Grandma and I bought way too many baked goods. Bread, dutch letters, cookies, the list goes on and on. We then took the girls to lunch at a little cafe by the bakery and enjoyed some burgers. Then we decided while we were at the Tulip Festival we might as well look at some tulips :) We did hear that the Tulips bloomed about 2 weeks too early and last night they had strong winds so the Tulips were a little disappointing especially on the main square. We decided to drive around the town and look for better Tulips. I found a little park with some nice beds of tulips so we pulled over and the girls helped me take some pictures and run around the Tulips.

Emma our photographer

Emma now has a love for taking pictures and she is really getting good at it. Here are a few she took the other day.

Emma writes her name.....finally!!!

What a night.....it was so great watching Emma write her name on her own for the first time. I was so proud of her. She still needs to have someone write it so she can look at the letters while she writes but compared to what she would do last week (scribbles and not trying) this is a major step in the right direction. She has also come a long way with her letters. Emma now knows all her letters and most of the letter sounds. She can also identify many numbers....we still have some work on this, numbers are much harder for her than letters.

Bella is learning her colors, left and right, and shapes. She is also finding a love for book reading. I take her to the library when Emma is in school and we have some book reading time together which she really loves.

More Zoo time

We went back to the zoo today and were still disappointed that there were still no zebras....they replaced them with ostrich. If you know me and my lack of love for birds this is a BIG disappointment for me and for the girls as well. Even after that we still had a good time. We did however had another disappointment today because when we got to the zoo we saw a big sign at the door that we could not bring our own food or drink into the zoo anymore. We always bring our lunch so we had to sit down outside of the zoo and gobble our lunch down before we went in. They say this is to help the animals, but I believe it probably is to help the bottom line by making people purchase their food.

Did I forget to fold some laundry????
