Pictures of Recital

Slacker

O.k. yes I have been a slacker on my blog for more than a week now. We have had so much going on that I have not found the time to keep up with this. Ben went to Vegas for a few days missing Emma's first dance recital...leaving me to get the girls ready and drive to Ames for the recital. Luckily I have some good family members that were willing to come and watch Bella for me and support Emma at her recital. After recital we went to Hickory Park to eat. This is my most favorite place to eat, I LOVE it!!! The recital went great. I was so proud of Emma she did her best and did not get any stage fright. It might have helped that I bribed her with going to Build a Bear if she did a good job. So of course on Sunday morning she was up bright and early ready for me to take her to the mall. Too bad it did not open until 11 and she was up at 7. As I am looking at my calendar today this will probably not be the last time I have a long lapse in my blog writting. We have almost every weekend filled for the summer doing something. It is going to be a great busy summer!! Here is the video that Ben took. Sorry it is pretty long but I have yet to figure out how to edit the videos.More things that we have been up to are we went to Maitlyn's birthday party this last Sunday (Emma's friend from Dance). It was a pool party at Maitlyn's grandparents' house. I decided not to swim but that I would just watch the girls from the side of the pool. Now I realize that was a bad decision! Bella was walking on the bench in the hot tub and slipped off to the middle which was over her head. I had to jump in my shorts and t-shirt to save her. I do not have any pics of the party to post because I was tryin to get over the heart attack I had when Bella almost drowned!! Even with that incident we still had a fun time at the party. I have volunteered to be in a Green Initiatives committee for the city of Waukee so I went to the meeting last week. It was so nice to be able to use my brain again and have some adult conversation. I have also joined a book club (Thanks to Megan for letting me join) I went to the first meeting last night. I had a great time even if I did not have the book we were reading finished :) I can't wait for many more. I love my kids but now that they are getting older it is nice to be able to pursue my own interests again.

Taki

Friday we went to Taki a Japanese hibachi grill. They grill the food in front of you. The girls and Wyatt loved it and the chef put on quite a show for them.

Saturday Fun

Saturday I watched Grace and Gavin Dehmer while their mommy and daddy worked. They all had so much fun jumping on the trampoline, watching a movie and driving the barbie car.

Farmers Market

Saturday morning the whole family made a quick trip to the farmers market downtown. This is my most favorite way to spend Saturday mornings!!! Emma and Bella a quickly being trained that this is their favorite thing to do too. Of course you can not visit a Downtown Des Moines Farmer's Market without getting a breakfast burrito. The line is always long, but moves really fast. Ben also discovered this year that they sell mini donuts like at the state fair so I am sure this will be something we have to get every time we go too. The mistake we made this Saturday was forgetting the stroller at home. I don't use it much anymore but at the farmer's market it is essential. As soon as the girls got out of the car their legs were tired.
